Hey Howdy HAA everyone!
Welcome back to Happily Adventures After. We are excited to provide you with our HAA Disney: Top 10 D23 Experience Announcements.
According to Disney, D23 Expo is their premier event, akin to Comicon, celebrating all things Disney. Since its debut in 2009, this bi-annual event in Anaheim, CA, offers dedicated Disney fans three days of exclusive behind-the-scenes experiences. Attendees get first looks at upcoming films, star-studded appearances, presentations from Disney icons, updates on Disney Parks and Resorts, and the prestigious Disney Legends ceremony, alongside treasures from the Walt Disney Archives.
At Happily Adventures After, we’re excited to share our top 10 favorite experience announcements from D23 2024! Instead of focusing on speculative “blue sky” projects, we’re highlighting the incredible attractions and experiences that are truly coming to life over the next decade.
As Mickey Mouse would say, “Here we go!” We’re excited to share our Top 10 D23 2024 Experience Announcements—no particular order, just pure Disney magic!
1. Hollywood Studios’ Monsters Inc. Rollercoaster
Beginning in 2025, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will unveil the first-ever suspended coaster in Walt Disney World as part of the new Monsters Inc. Land. This area will allow guests to immerse themselves in Monstropolis, where laughter powers the city. The suspended coaster will place you right in the heart of the monster-filled action, offering a unique and thrilling ride experience. I’m particularly excited thinking about the possibility of innovative theming, including interactive elements that I thought of like tracking your “laughter collection,” which could make this coaster as engaging and immersive as Rise of the Resistance.
2. Villains Land in Magic Kingdom
Villains Land, the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom’s history, will debut beyond Big Thunder Mountain, extending to the Haunted Mansion. This new area will celebrate Disney’s iconic villains with two major attractions and extensive dining and shopping options. I’m thrilled about the prospect of a new, potentially upside-down rollercoaster, from the concept art, that fits the dark and twisted theme of the land. The unique contrast to Magic Kingdom’s usual upbeat atmosphere will offer a fresh and exciting experience, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Disney brings these villains to life.

3. Tropical Americas in Animal Kingdom
Animal Kingdom is set to replace DinoLand USA with Tropical Americas, featuring a vibrant village setting and two new attractions. The Indiana Jones ride will take you through a Maya temple, while an Encanto-themed attraction will let you explore Antonio’s rainforest room inside the Casita. I’m especially excited about the Encanto ride due to my love for the film’s music and magical elements. The addition of these new attractions and a fresh dining experience promises to make Tropical Americas a standout area in the park.
4. Avengers Campus Expansion at Disney California Adventure
Disney California Adventure’s Avengers Campus will expand with two new attractions: Avengers Infinity Defense, an epic journey to Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City, and Stark Flight Lab, a simulated flight experience using a robot arm. This expansion will double the size of Avengers Campus and is set to start construction in 2025. I’m buzzing with excitement, especially about Avengers Infinity Defense, which looks innovative and immersive. Stark Flight Lab also has me intrigued, though I’m cautious about potential motion sickness from the KUKA arm Coaster platform.

5. Walt Disney “Coming Home” to Disneyland
In 2025, Disneyland will introduce an interactive show featuring an audio-animatronic Walt Disney at the Main Street Opera House. This will be the first time Walt Disney has been represented in this form, offering a personal and nostalgic tribute. I’m excited about this addition because it will honor Disney’s legacy in his home park, with close collaboration with his family ensuring a respectful and accurate portrayal. It promises to be a deeply moving experience for Disney fans.

6. Pirates of the Caribbean-Themed Tavern
Adventureland will soon feature a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed tavern, opening in 2025. This venue aims to bring the adventurous spirit of the beloved franchise to life with immersive theming. I’m excited about the potential for a richly themed environment and interactive elements that could rival other popular dining spots like Oga’s Cantina. The chance to enjoy themed food and drinks in a swashbuckling setting has me looking forward to this new addition.

7. Spider-Man Rollercoaster
A Spider-Man rollercoaster is on the way, with concept art suggesting a design similar to Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind. Although details are still emerging, the ride’s integration with Spider-Man could be phenomenal, especially if it features elements from the MCU, including Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and potential interactive components. I’m thrilled about this rollercoaster because it looks from the concept art to combine the excitement of Cosmic Rewind with Spider-Man’s world, offering a dynamic and engaging experience. I look forward to seeing the ride throughs of this coaster when it is completed, and one day riding it!
8. Spaceship Earth Lounge at Epcot
A new lounge inspired by Spaceship Earth will open at Epcot in 2025. Though details are limited, the lounge is expected to offer a great view of the fireworks and a family-friendly environment. I’m excited about this new addition because it will provide a relaxing spot to enjoy Epcot’s nighttime spectaculars while immersing guests in the iconic theme of Spaceship Earth. The concept art looks promising, and I’m eager to see how it complements the park’s atmosphere.
9. Lion King Area in Disneyland Paris
Disneyland Paris is transforming its second park into Disney Adventure World, including a new Lion King-themed area called Pride Lands. This section will feature a flume ride based on Simba’s journey and additional shopping, dining, and character interactions. As a huge fan of The Lion King, I’m excited to see my favorite film come to life in such an immersive way. The chance to explore Simba’s story and experience the Pride Lands firsthand is incredibly thrilling.

10. Disney Cruise Line Expansion
Disney Cruise Line is adding four new ships to its fleet, bringing the total to 13. Although details on names, designs, and itineraries are still in development, this expansion is a significant step for Disney. I’m excited about the potential for new destinations and itineraries, including what I hope is the possibility of cruises departing from Canada. This expansion will enhance Disney Cruise Line’s offerings and provide even more opportunities for magical sea adventures.
As we conclude our D23 HAA Disney: Top 10 Countdown, it’s clear that Disney’s magic is expanding in thrilling new ways. From the dark allure of Villains Land and the vibrant Tropical Americas to the exciting Spider-Man rollercoaster, there’s so much to look forward to.
