This past June and July, we embarked on an unforgettable week-long adventure at Walt Disney World, filled with magical moments, thrilling rides, and a few surprises along the way. From smooth flights to unexpected rainstorms, our trip had it all, and we’re excited to share every detail with you!
The Journey Begins
Our Disney adventure kicked off early Monday morning, leaving home at 5 am for the drive to the border. After a quick stop at Panera and Target, we made our way to the airport. We had great service at Detroit Metro Airport (DTW) and even received free waters from Starbucks! Our Delta flight was smooth, and the reunion upon arrival was heartwarming. We were thrilled with our Avis car rental upgrade, and calling ahead allowed us to check in early at our resort, Reunion Resort and Golf Club; our absolute favourite place to stay in Orlando.
After a quick Target and Publix run, we treated ourselves to a delicious meal at Ford’s Garage before settling in for the night.

Animal Kingdom Adventures
Tuesday was all about Animal Kingdom, where we indulged in some ice cream at Dinoland U.S.A., knowing it might be our last chance before it leaves. Unfortunately, heavy rain moved in, but we made the best of it, waiting it out with umbrellas in hand. Despite getting soaked, the day was still filled with Disney magic!
Riviera Resort and Hollywood Studios Fun
Wednesday started with a wonderful breakfast at the Riviera Resort, where the service was top-notch. We then headed to Hollywood Studios, where we enjoyed free ice cream at Dino Diner, rode Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, shopped, and exchanged our umbrellas. We took in the sights at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and even found our favourite Starbucks in the park!
A Rainy Day Turned Epcot Adventure
Thursday brought more rain, but after a relaxing morning and a quick nap, we decided to head to Epcot. I snagged a virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, and we enjoyed a whirlwind tour of the park, from fish and chips in the UK Pavilion to a dance party at the newly opened CommuniCore Hall. The highlight? Riding Guardians and jamming out to “One Way or Another” and “September,” which made the day unforgettable.
Magic Kingdom Magic
Friday was a day of early starts and big adventures at Magic Kingdom. We booked Tiana’s Bayou Adventure with Genie+ at 7 am, joined the virtual queue, and enjoyed a run before heading into the park. We met Mickey, watched the Festival of Fantasy parade, and braved the sweltering heat to enjoy rides like Jungle Cruise and the Liberty Belle. Despite the intense heat, the day was packed with fun.

Relaxation and Disney Springs
The weekend was all about relaxation. After a refreshing nap and pool time on Saturday, we headed to Celebration and indulged in a delicious meal at Upper Crust. Sunday was spent at Disney Springs, where we shopped (maybe a little too much!) at Sephora and World of Disney. Unfortunately, our dinner at Summerhouse on the Lake wasn’t great, and we ended up getting sick. But hey, it’s all part of the adventure, right?
Wrapping Up and Heading Home
Monday was a chill day by the pool, packing up and reflecting on the trip. On Tuesday, we had a bit of a packing dilemma—how did we end up with more stuff than we came with? But with some creative repacking, we managed to fit everything in. The drive home was smooth, and we were grateful to avoid a big accident on the way.

From the highs of riding Guardians of the Galaxy to the lows of unexpected rainstorms, this trip had it all. Stay tuned for more detailed posts, including our dining reviews coming soon to our YouTube channel.
