Leading with Integrity – HAA Disney: Let’s Lead

Hey Howdy HAA Everyone,
Welcome back to Happily Adventures After! London here, and today we’re talking about one of the most important traits of leadership—integrity. It may not be as flashy as charisma or as easy as delegation, but it’s the quiet consistency that earns trust and respect. At Disney and in our own lives, integrity is the compass that guides us toward lasting impact over temporary wins.

Integrity in Everyday Leadership

Integrity shows up in small, powerful ways: arriving on time, admitting mistakes, giving credit where it’s due, and honoring commitments. These moments may feel minor, but together they build credibility. People follow leaders who are consistent, honest, and reliable.

Disney’s Standard of Integrity

When Walt Disney envisioned Disneyland in the 1950s, he committed to a park that was clean, safe, and family-friendly—radical for its time. He refused to compromise on those values, and that integrity still defines Disney today.

This culture continues with the Five Keys: Safety, Courtesy, Inclusion, Show, and Efficiency. Notice Safety comes first. Integrity means choosing guest and employee well-being above convenience or speed.

Everyday Disney Examples

  • Ride safety checks: Never skipped, because guest well-being matters most.
  • Guest recovery moments: Cast Members are empowered to make things right, building trust and loyalty.
  • Consistent storytelling: From costuming to language, every land protects the integrity of its story.

Final Thoughts

Integrity is the glue that holds leadership together. Without it, trust erodes quickly. With it, leaders build communities and teams that thrive. The real question is: Are your actions aligned with your values?

As Walt Disney said, “Do what you do so well that they will want to see it again and bring their friends.” Integrity is doing what you promised—so well and so consistently—that people know they can rely on you.
