Hey Howdy HAA Everyone!
It’s London. Welcome back to Happily Adventures After!
Welcome back to Happily Adventures After! We are kicking off this week’s HAA Disney: Give Me a Review with one of our new favourite breakfasts… Captn Cooks!
We kicked off our magical Disney day with a delicious breakfast at Captn Cook’s, the casual quick-service spot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Even though it’s not your typical table-service experience, Captain Cook’s delivers serious flavour and an atmosphere that feels like a mini-vacation in the South Pacific before your park day even begins.
🍽️ What We Ordered
Here’s what we grabbed for our breakfast adventure:
- Tonga Toast (served with breakfast sausage & breakfast potatoes)– $10.79
- Mickey Waffle Breakfast Meal (served with bacon & breakfast potatoes) – $10.49
- Hot Tea (x2) – $3.49 each
💵 Total Cost Breakdown:
- Subtotal: $28.26
- Tax (7%): $1.98
- Total in USD: $30.24
- Converted to CAD (at 1.42 exchange rate): $42.94 CAD
For under $45 Canadian, this was a filling and flavorful breakfast for two—Disney magic included!
🌺 What We Loved
We adore the Tonga Toast. Like truly, deeply, passionately love it. This deep-fried cinnamon-sugar-covered French toast is stuffed with bananas and topped with a sweet strawberry compote. It’s an indulgent and iconic Disney breakfast—and for us, it’s a must-try.
The Mickey Waffle Breakfast Meal was another win. Two golden Mickey-shaped waffles with sausage, bacon, and breakfast potatoes made it a solid, satisfying choice. We also each got a hot tea, perfect for sipping in the early morning air while soaking up the relaxing island atmosphere.
🏝️ About Captain Cook’s & Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Captain Cook’s is located on the first floor of the Great Ceremonial House at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. It’s a quick-service location with tropical vibes, tiki theming, and both indoor and shaded outdoor seating.
Breakfast is served daily from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and the menu features a blend of classic and Polynesian-inspired dishes. It’s a popular spot, especially with those in-the-know who want a delicious bite before heading to the parks.
The Polynesian Resort itself is one of Walt Disney World’s original resorts, opening in 1971. Its immersive South Pacific theming, lush landscaping, and beachy charm make it a fan-favorite. Plus, it’s on the Monorail line, offering convenient access to both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT.
🚗 Parking Tip
Important heads up: Captain Cook’s is quick-service, and does not count as a valid dining reservation to park at the Polynesian. We parked in the Magic Kingdom lot and took the monorail over—easy, scenic, and honestly a fun way to start the day! If you’re not staying at the resort, this is your best (and most polite) option.
✅ Pros
- Delicious food – The Tonga Toast alone is worth the trip.
- Beautiful setting – A tropical oasis that feels relaxing before the hustle of the parks.
- Convenient to Magic Kingdom & EPCOT – Hop on the monorail and you’re there.
❌ Cons
- No direct parking for quick-service meals – You’ll need to park elsewhere and monorail in.
- Can get crowded during peak breakfast times – Seating is limited.
- Quick service, not table service – So don’t expect servers or customizations beyond the menu.
✨ Final Thoughts
If you’re heading to Magic Kingdom or even EPCOT, stopping at Captain Cook’s for breakfast is a fantastic way to start your day. Between the delicious offerings (Tonga Toast, we love you) and the laid-back island vibes, you’ll feel both full and refreshed for the magic ahead. It’s a hidden gem that deserves a spot on your Disney breakfast list!
Have a blessed and wonderful day,
London
