Is Walt Disney World’s Cool Kid Summer Worth It in 2026 and Beyond? Our Honest Review

Hey Howdy HAA Everyone! It’s London, and welcome back to Happily Adventures After and another HAA Disney: Give Me A Review!

If you’re wondering whether Walt Disney World’s Cool Kid Summer is actually worth planning a Disney vacation around, you’ve come to the right place.

We experienced Cool Kid Summer not once, but twice, which gave us the chance to explore the entertainment, character experiences, resort activities, special offers, and everything else Disney packed into this summer celebration.

And our answer?

YES. Cool Kid Summer is absolutely worth experiencing.

But there are definitely some things you should know before booking a summer Disney vacation, especially when it comes to that Florida heat!

What Is Walt Disney World’s Cool Kid Summer?

Cool Kid Summer brought additional experiences, entertainment, character interactions, activities, and summer fun throughout Walt Disney World.

And while the name obviously makes it sound like an event designed for kids, here’s the thing:

You absolutely don’t need to be a kid to enjoy Cool Kid Summer.

We visited as adults and had an incredible time.

In fact, that’s one of the things I enjoyed most about the entire experience. Disney created an atmosphere that encouraged everyone to embrace their inner kid and experience some of the playfulness and nostalgia that makes Walt Disney World so special in the first place.

Instead of Cool Kid Summer feeling like Disney threw up a few decorations and slapped a name on another seasonal offering, there were genuinely different experiences to discover.

When Is Walt Disney World’s Cool Kid Summer?

One of the best things about Cool Kid Summer is that it isn’t just a random weekend event; it’s a seasonal celebration that spans most of the summer vacation period.

In 2025, Walt Disney World introduced Cool Kid Summer beginning in late May and running through early September. Following its success, Disney brought the event back in 2026, running from May 26 through September 8, 2026, with even more entertainment, refreshed attractions, character experiences, and family-focused activities across all four theme parks and Disney Resort hotels.

Disney has now offered Cool Kid Summer for two consecutive years, and it’s becoming more than a one-time promotion. While Disney hasn’t officially announced future dates beyond 2026, its return suggests it could become an annual summer tradition at Walt Disney World.

If you’re planning a Disney vacation between late May and early September, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye out for whether Cool Kid Summer returns, as it adds extra value through entertainment, character experiences, resort activities, and seasonal promotions.

New Attractions and Experiences During Cool Kid Summer

Another reason Cool Kid Summer stood out was that Disney paired the celebration with several new and refreshed experiences across Walt Disney World. Rather than simply adding seasonal entertainment, there were genuine reasons for returning guests to explore the parks again.

Some of the biggest additions included:

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom welcomed the refreshed Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Tomorrowland, featuring upgraded ride vehicles, new interactive blasters, enhanced targets, improved scoring, and updated show scenes. It gave one of Disney’s classic attractions a fresh new feel.

Our personal favourite, however, was Jessie’s Roundup: A Rip-Roarin’ Revue inside The Diamond Horseshoe in Frontierland. Watching Jessie, Woody, and Bullseye interact with guests through music, dancing, and playful games perfectly captured the spirit of Cool Kid Summer.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Families could also meet Bluey and Bingo at Conservation Station inside Rafiki’s Planet Watch as part of Bluey’s Wild World. This marked Bluey’s Walt Disney World debut and quickly became one of the most popular family experiences of the summer.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Hollywood Studios introduced Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! in Animation Courtyard, bringing Mickey and friends together in a brand-new interactive stage show designed especially for younger guests. Rock N Roller Coaster Staring the Muppets also opened during Cool Kid Summer!

EPCOT

Over at EPCOT, guests could once again soar over the United States aboard Soarin’ Across America, a limited-time return of the original version of the beloved attraction. Combined with additional entertainment and family activities around the park, EPCOT offered another reason to visit during the summer season.

One thing Disney did exceptionally well was making every park feel like it had something unique happening. Whether you spent your day in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or simply relaxing at your Disney Resort hotel, Cool Kid Summer gave guests more reasons to explore beyond their usual vacation routine.

Our Walt Disney World Cool Kid Summer Experience

As we visited Walt Disney World twice during Cool Kid Summer, we were able to experience quite a bit of what Disney offered throughout the season.

And one of our biggest takeaways? Slow down.

A Walt Disney World vacation doesn’t have to mean waking up at the crack of dawn, rope dropping a park, racing from attraction to attraction, and collapsing in your hotel room at midnight.

Some of our favourite memories happened when we weren’t rushing anywhere. Cool Kid Summer made doing exactly that even easier.

Walt Disney World Cool Kid Summer Deals and Promotions

Now let’s talk about something we ALL care about when planning a Walt Disney World vacation:

The price.

Disney Parks, including Walt Disney World, isn’t exactly known for being the cheapest vacation on the planet.

One reason Cool Kid Summer worked so well for us was the additional value we could get from the promotions and ticket offers available around our summer visits.

Water Park Admission on Check-In Day

One of our favourite summer perks was complimentary Disney water park admission on check-in day for qualifying Disney Resort hotel stays.

We took advantage of it, and we LOVED it.

Arrival day can sometimes feel like a wasted Disney day.

You don’t necessarily want to spend the money on a full theme park ticket when you’ve already spent part of the day travelling, but you also don’t want to sit around your hotel waiting for the “real” vacation to start tomorrow.

This gave us something fun to do immediately. Boom. Vacation started.

It’s a fantastic way to make that first day feel like an actual vacation day.

4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket

Another option available to guests was Disney’s 4-Day, 4-Park Magic Ticket, giving guests a way to experience each of the four Walt Disney World theme parks during their vacation at a lower starting daily ticket price.

If your goal is to experience Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom during one trip, offers like this can provide additional value.

Disney Resort Hotel Offers

There were also promotional offers on select Disney Resort hotel stays, creating another opportunity for guests to save on a Walt Disney World summer vacation.

Always check Disney’s current offers before booking because the right promotion can make a surprisingly big difference in the overall cost of your trip.

Canadian Disney Ticket Offers

As Canadians, we were also able to take advantage of a Canadian ticket promotion available around our trip.

While this wasn’t specifically a Cool Kid Summer exclusive, combining available promotions helped make our summer Disney trips more affordable.

Our After 2 PM Ticket Strategy

We also used an after-2-PM ticket offer, and honestly? Amazing.

It worked SO well with the realities of visiting Walt Disney World during the summer.

Because let’s address the giant, sweaty elephant in the room…

Florida is HOT.

Rather than forcing ourselves through the parks during the hottest parts of the day, being able to arrive later worked beautifully for our trip.

We could enjoy our morning, take things slowly, head into the park later, experience attractions, have dinner, and enjoy Walt Disney World as the temperatures started dropping into the evening.

If you don’t need to be a rope-drop-to-fireworks Disney person, visiting later in the day can completely change your summer park experience.

Pros of Walt Disney World Cool Kid Summer

So, what did Cool Kid Summer get right?

1. The Entertainment Is Fun for Everyone

Don’t let the word “Kid” fool you.

Cool Kid Summer isn’t only for kids.

Disney has always had an incredible ability to tap into nostalgia, and Cool Kid Summer leaned into it.

Whether you’re six, 26, 46, or 76, there is something special about seeing your favourite Disney characters and letting yourself get caught up in the experience.

2. There’s More Reason to Explore Disney Resorts

This was a HUGE win for me.

Cool Kid Summer encouraged guests to experience more than the theme parks.

Spending an afternoon exploring Wilderness Lodge, enjoying resort dining, swimming, relaxing, or participating in resort activities isn’t wasting valuable Disney time.

That IS Disney time.

3. The Added Perks Provide Real Value

The complimentary water park admission on arrival day was easily one of our favourite perks.

Instead of just being another piece of marketing, this was something that added tangible value to our vacation and gave us another Disney experience.

4. More Flexibility for Different Disney Vacation Styles

There isn’t one “correct” way to vacation at Walt Disney World.

And I think the summer offerings reflected that.

Between ticket promotions, resort offers, later park visits, water parks, resort activities, and seasonal entertainment, guests had options.

You could build a vacation around what worked for you.

And I loved that.

Cons of Walt Disney World Cool Kid Summer

Would this really be a Give Me A Review if I didn’t tell you what we DIDN’T love?

Because Cool Kid Summer wasn’t perfect.

1. Florida Summer Is HOT

There’s no getting around it.

Florida during the summer is hot, humid, and intense.

If your dream Disney vacation involves leisurely strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. without sweating through your clothes, summer might not be your first choice.

Interestingly, this is another reason Cool Kid Summer worked for us.

The resort activities and other experiences gave us permission to step away from the parks without feeling like we were missing the vacation.

2. You’ll Still Want a Plan

Cool Kid Summer doesn’t eliminate the need to plan a Walt Disney World vacation.

If there is a particular character experience, attraction, show, dining experience, or activity that’s a must-do for your family, do your research before arriving.

You don’t need a minute-by-minute spreadsheet.

But having a general strategy makes a massive difference.

Final Verdict: Is Walt Disney World Cool Kid Summer Worth It?

After experiencing Walt Disney World during Cool Kid Summer twice, we’re giving it:

⭐ 4.5 out of 5 stars! ⭐

Would we recommend Cool Kid Summer?

Absolutely.

Cool Kid Summer brought extra entertainment, characters, value, resort experiences, and a sense of playfulness to our Walt Disney World vacations.

But more than anything, it reminded us of something that’s really easy to forget when planning Disney vacations:

Disney isn’t about how many rides you can check off a list.

It’s about the moments. It’s laughing at a character interaction you weren’t expecting.

It’s exploring a Disney resort when you don’t have anywhere else to be.

It’s feeling like a kid again…even when you aren’t one anymore.

And THAT is where Cool Kid Summer shines.

Let me know, what is your favourite part of Cool Kid Summer at Walt Disney World?

Have a blessed and wonderful day,
