Is Disney’s Palm Golf Course Worth It? | Honest Walt Disney World Golf Review

Hey Howdy HAA Everyone,

Welcome back to another HAA Disney: Give Me A Disney Review!

When most guests think about Walt Disney World, they immediately picture attractions, fireworks, character dining, and iconic Disney storytelling. But beyond the parks exists an entirely different side of the Disney experience that many vacationers overlook completely: championship golf.

During our recent Walt Disney World vacation, we decided to experience Disney’s Palm Golf Course for the very first time, and we walked away far more impressed than expected.

As golfers who have played all of the Reunion Resort courses and several respected Orlando-area layouts, we arrived with high expectations and plenty of comparisons in mind. Disney golf had always been something we were curious about, but we questioned whether it would truly deliver the quality and competitive experience serious golfers look for.

After playing 18 holes at Palm…

We absolutely understand why Disney golf continues to build a strong reputation among both vacation golfers and experienced players alike.

This course delivers much more than simply “golf at Disney.” It offers a legitimate championship-caliber golf experience wrapped inside Disney-level hospitality and operations.

So…Is Disney’s Palm Golf Course actually worth it?

Disney’s Palm Golf Course Review

Where Is Disney’s Palm Golf Course Located?

Disney’s Palm Golf Course is located within the Magnolia Golf complex near Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Shades of Green Resort area:

1950 W. Magnolia Palm Drive
Lake Buena Vista, Florida

What immediately stands out is how peaceful the environment feels compared to the energy of the Disney parks. Within minutes, you transition from monorails and attractions into quiet Florida woodlands lined with palms, lakes, and championship fairways.

It genuinely feels like stepping into an entirely different vacation experience while still remaining inside Walt Disney World property.

Complimentary parking is available, and Disney Resort transportation assistance may be offered depending on your resort location.

The History Behind Disney’s Palm Golf Course

Disney’s Palm Golf Course originally opened in 1971 alongside Walt Disney World itself, making it one of Disney’s original recreational offerings.

Designed by renowned architect Joe Lee, Palm quickly became recognized as one of Florida’s premier resort golf destinations and hosted professional-level tournament play connected to Walt Disney World for decades.

In 2013, the course underwent a major redesign led by Arnold Palmer Course Design. The renovation modernized greens, reshaped bunkers, updated tee complexes, and improved playability while still preserving the course’s original championship identity.

Today, the course continues operating under Arnold Palmer Golf Management and remains one of the most respected golf experiences on Disney property.

Course Layout & Design

Disney’s Palm Golf Course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course that blends classic Florida golf architecture with modern resort-course accessibility.

The course features:

  • Rolling and sloping greens
  • Mature palms and natural Florida woodland scenery
  • Strategic water hazards
  • Well-positioned tropical sand bunkers
  • Multiple tee boxes for varying skill levels
  • Wide yet thoughtful landing areas

One of the things we appreciated most was that Palm does not rely on gimmicks or excessive resort-style shortcuts.

Instead, the course rewards smart strategy.

There are forgiving visuals off several tees, but poor shot placement can quickly bring water or bunkers into play. The layout keeps players mentally engaged throughout the round without becoming frustrating or overly punishing.

The finishing stretch is especially strong.

The eighteenth hole stands out as one of the course’s signature challenges, demanding precision and smart decision-making rather than simply overpowering the hole with distance.

For experienced golfers, Palm feels competitive and rewarding.

For vacation golfers, it remains approachable and enjoyable.

That balance is difficult to achieve — and Disney executes it surprisingly well.

How Much Does Disney’s Palm Golf Course Cost?

We booked our tee time through GolfNow and paid approximately $115 USD including tax, which we felt represented strong overall value considering the quality of the course and the Disney location.

Pricing fluctuates significantly depending on:

  • Season
  • Time of day
  • Demand
  • Booking platform
  • Resort promotions

Typical pricing generally ranges from approximately $80–$200+ USD depending on the tee time and season.

Our booking included:

  • 18-hole round
  • Shared GPS-equipped golf cart
  • Practice and warm-up facilities
  • Complimentary parking
  • Access to the Palm/Magnolia clubhouse and pro shop

Rental clubs are also available, making the experience accessible for guests who may not travel with their own equipment.

Our Honest Experience Playing Disney’s Palm Golf Course

Going into the round, we honestly did not know what to expect.

Because we regularly play higher-end Orlando-area courses, we were curious whether Disney golf would feel overly commercialized or more focused on branding than actual golf quality.

That was not the case whatsoever.

What surprised us most was how serious and polished Palm feels.

This is not mini golf with Disney branding attached.

This is legitimate championship golf.

The course conditioning exceeded expectations. Greens rolled consistently, bunkers were maintained exceptionally well, and the overall presentation reflected the operational detail Disney is known for across its resorts.

Interestingly, the “Disney difference” showed itself less through overt theming and more through the overall guest experience:

  • Friendly and efficient staff
  • Smooth pace of play
  • Organized operations
  • Clean facilities
  • Excellent attention to detail

Palm feels like authentic championship golf enhanced by Disney hospitality.

That combination works extremely well.

One of the most unexpectedly magical parts of the experience came early in the round.

Between approximately holes 2 through 5, you can actually hear the iconic whistle and announcements from the Walt Disney World Railroad at Magic Kingdom in the distance — a detail that immediately reminded us that, despite being immersed in championship golf, we were still inside Walt Disney World.

Adding to that feeling, you can also occasionally spot the Walt Disney World Monorail gliding through the resort area nearby.

It creates a uniquely “Disney” atmosphere that separates Palm from a traditional Orlando golf course experience.

There is something genuinely special about lining up a golf shot while hearing the sounds of Magic Kingdom in the background. It subtly blends the peacefulness of golf with the nostalgia and excitement of Disney vacations in a way that only Walt Disney World can offer.

For Disney fans who also love golf, those moments alone add an extra layer of magic to the round.

HAA Disney Score: 4.5 / 5 ⭐

Disney’s Palm Golf Course exceeded our expectations in almost every category.

As golfers familiar with Reunion Resort and multiple Orlando-area courses, we entered cautiously optimistic and left genuinely impressed.

Palm delivers:

  • Excellent course conditioning
  • Strong championship design
  • Professional operations
  • High-quality guest service
  • A relaxing atmosphere beyond the parks

Most importantly, it never sacrifices the integrity of the golf experience simply because it carries the Disney name.

In fact, this experience made us excited to continue exploring the rest of Disney’s golf lineup in future Walt Disney World trips.

Final Thoughts

Disney vacations are often measured in attractions, dining reservations, fireworks, and magical moments inside the parks. But sometimes, some of the most memorable experiences happen outside the traditional Disney itinerary.

Disney’s Palm Golf Course reminded us that Walt Disney World offers far more than rides alone.

For golfers looking to combine a Disney vacation with a legitimate championship golf experience, Palm absolutely deserves consideration. Whether you are planning a dedicated golf getaway or simply looking for a relaxing escape from the parks for a few hours, this course may genuinely surprise you.

For us, Disney’s Palm Golf Course delivered something we did not fully expect:

Authentic championship golf combined with Disney hospitality.

That may be one of the most underrated experiences at Walt Disney World.
